Wrekin Fell Race 2011

To say the Wrekin Fell Race is for people who is for people who like hills is an under estimation! I sure that Cumbrian’s would consider the route as a gentle slope.Coming from the Lowlands I’d consider a rope next year! The comenced at Ercall School which is close to Wellington. The route Involved ascending and descending Ercall Hill then the Wrekin. It was back the same way.

The race started by running round the school playing fields - this was just about the only flat part of the race. Then it was under the motorway and a step climb up Ercall Hill As soon as we reached the summit it was straight back down a steep slope towards the Wrekin.

The route up the Wrekin started by a small car park. Although the main path started with gentle zig zags the race route went straight up a steep bank. At the top of the bank it followed the main path up to the summit. After running round the trig point. it was back the same way. The path down was easy to start with but then it reached the steep bank! This is where a rope could come in handy! It was then back up Ercall Hill. Then a gentle path through the woods to the start!
