ASICS London 10K

On Sunday 10th July I took part in the Asics London 10K along with 26,000 other runners. I managed to get myself onto the starting line just behind the elite runners and so had a great start. It was my goal to finish in the top 200 and run a sub 40 minute time. All of the roads were closed for the event and the race started at Hyde Park corner and continued along Piccadilly, we passed St. James Palace, Trafalgar Square and ran along the embankment to St. Pauls Cathedral and Tower Bridge. In the second half we passed the Tate Modern and the London Eye as we ran over Westminster Bridge. Nearing the finish we ran through Parliament Square to Westminster Abbey, after a 180 degree turn we ran back to Parliament Square and turned onto Whitehall, on the corner of which my Dad was waiting to cheer me on and finished just past the Cenotaph and Downing Street. I finished in a time of 39 minutes and 20 seconds and in 62nd place. The gap between the winner and second place was 1 second, the winner finishing in 28 minutes and 2 seconds. I would definitely recommend the run for next year to any Chuggers interested!
